Today...

You must understand.
He does the duty of two sons now.
For himself; and for the one
who will not return.

I really want to watch Lord of the Rings again.
I'm currently listening to the soundtrack for the Fellowship of the Rings (I just finished listening to the Return of the King) and am wishing I could stay up all night and just do a Lord of the Rings marathon. But that's not going to happen. At least, not tonight. ;)

I put on this outfit this morning and felt very much like John Watson. If John Watson were me. Which sounds sort of creepy. Maybe I should say, if John Watson were female. Or...Erm...
It's the shirt.
Or close enough.

I love this hairstyle and wish I could figure out how to do it on myself. It doesn't look like it would be that hard, but all my attempts turn out like a like a rather hairy bird's nest. Not cool.

This is hilarious. You should totally watch it.

Today was was rounded off with popcorn and m&ms. Our friends came over for a movie night and we watched Bachelor Mother. It was so much fun!

This movie is one of the cutest Ginger Rodgers movies out there. I love it.

Now it is very late and I need to go and sleep.
Goodnight and God Bless!

Sort of Saturday Style~

Wake up, wake up, the sun cannot wait for long
Reach out, reach out before it fades away
You will find the warmth when you surrender
Smile into the fear and let it play

You wanna run away, run away
And you say that it can't be so
You wanna look away, look away
But you stay 'cause it's all so close
When you stand up and hold out your hand
In the face what I don't understand
My reason to be brave

Hold on, hold on so strong, times just carries on
All that you thought was wrong is pure again
You can't hide forever from the fire
Look into the storm and feel the rain

You wanna run away, run away
And you say that it can't be so
You wanna look away, look away
But you stay 'cause it's all so close
When you stand up and hold out your hand
In the face what I don't understand
My reason to be brave

Sometimes you just need to go out to the meadow with a camera and a notebook and just enjoy the day.

I figured now was a good time to snap some 'Saturday Style' pictures...and yes, I know it's Sunday.

Even though Autumn hasn't quite descended where I live, I'm wanted to wear autumn-y colors.

My lovely nylon flowers.

It's awesome having a MP3 player that has speakers. I take it everywhere. It's wonderful sitting in the meadow listening to "I want crazy." *Nods*

And does anyone else love gummies?

Thank you, Treskie, for taking pictures for me! You're a pal. ;)

Ah...tomorrow starts yet another week. Sometimes I'd really like to be able to just tap on the breaks and slow life down a little bit. I can't believe it's already halfway through September! *Eyes September suspiciously.* Sneaky little month, isn't it?

This song has been going round and round in my head lately. Nobody puts it quite like Josh Groban does. It's so perfect for me right now. Sometimes you do just need a reason to be brave.

Good night and God Bless!

Saturday Style

I just re-wrote the beginning of this post three times. I can't seem to get it off to a good start. It's a bit frustrating.

It could because I'm trying to write this while I'm watching Gus walks into a bank...one of my favorite Psych episodes.

But anyway.

The sewing project that I am actually very fond of~

We had an umbrella that was a beautiful shade of green. But it broke.

Being an inspired and brilliant person, I thought, "Hey! This fabric would make a great skirt!"

Weeeeell...to be honest, Treskie was the one that said, "Hey! Amy, this would make a great skirt!" I'm always one to give credit where credit is due.

The umbrella was very large. Large enough to make two skirts. Here's the sections that I had already seam ripped into the proper proportions.

My greatest friends during this project.

So here's just some of the pictures of the process.

That extra material is what I used for the waistband and pockets.

The hem was tricky. But I did it! *Grin*

"Look at how much fun I'm having!"

Sewing isn't really one of my favorite things. I do a project here and there, but mostly I get burned out quickly when I sit at the machine. *Grin* But sometimes its just worth it.

My little Mummy is a great sport whenever I get the urge, and she's ever so helpful. She is a really good seamstress and helps me figure out the hard parts. Sure, she laughs at my mistakes, and she threatens to poke me with the pins as she helps fit the pockets and such, but she really is the best. :)
And for the record, she's never really stuck me with a pin.

I love the skirt. It's basically a hiking skirt-it's light, it's durable and it's perfect. I want to make another skirt with the other half of the umbrella. Tweak a few things...use a better zipper than the one I put on mine...and maybe give it to Treskie. I don't know. It was her idea after all.

Also, making this skirt brought on the idea of 'tent' skirts. How cool would that be? Imagine being able to turn your skirt into a tent! I love the idea, you guys! I'm just not sure how to make something like that. It would just be a cool survival feature. In case of the zombie apocalypse, you know. The houses are blown up, there's mass destruction, danger, danger, danger! But you are prepared. Because your skirt is your shelter. Epic.

Now I sound like Shawn. I've definitely been watching too much Psych.
"Whaaaaaat!"

I will leave you with this weirdness. And also this song.

I just discovered Peter Hollens on youtube and you all should totally check out his music. It's beautiful! And I'm not usually a fan of 'Shenandoah.'

Belated Saturday Style~

Good to my word, as always! *Snicker* Le Saturday style on Sunday as promised. ;)

I've done a 'double bun' updo before but I saw this picture...

And well. I decided to sort of copy it.

This might be one of the most confusing tutorials I've ever done.   But don't let me be the judge of that. Grab a brush, some hairpins and a scarf and find out for yourself! You know you want to.

So you're going to take the top half of your hair and tie it into a high knot. Like so;

1.) Take the top half of your hair and wrap it around your hand.
2.) Twist your hand down, creating a loop.

3.) Take hair and pull it through the loop.
4.) Pull it tight-ish and get the knot positioned where you want it.
5.) Twist the tail and wrap it around.

6.) Pin in place. Since it's in a knot, it stays up almost by itself.
7.) Now you repeat all the above steps with the bottom section of hair. Make sure to keep it as close to the other knot as you can. They look better that way.

And just finish by tying the scarf of your choice around your head.

Voila!

If the whole knot thing is just way to confusing, do two normal little buns and don't worry about tying your hair up. It works pretty much the same way. If you have shorter hair, the knots probably wont work anyway, and two little buns might be your best option.

This style is nice and cool feeling. It's good for those really hot summer days when you want your hair off your neck. ;)

I am very sorry if you were confused all the way through this post. I was actually confusing myself writing the tutorial. Not a great sign.
I'm thinking about trying to do vlog hairstyles...what do you all think? The only thing is, I might be even more confusing live! It is entirely possible.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

God Bless,
Amy

Saturday Style~

This style was hastily thrown together this morning before I went to work. I'm not usually the sort to wear the tied up shirt, but for some reason this shirt does it for me. ;)

The hairstyle was pretty easy, but I didn't think to take any pictures of how I did it. I'm going to try to do an actual hairstyle tutorial next week. I haven't done one for a really long time!

Maybe I'll try to do this one.

Or this one?
You know, maybe make some use of my pinterest board. :)

By the way, if any of you are tired of these Saturday collages, just let me know, okay? I don't want to bore you all. You know,  sort of the whole, "Oh, there's that blog with the same pictures every Saturday!"....Not what I'm going for. *Smile*

Anyway,

It was a good day.

Work was really crazy-busy, but in a good way. I'm really enjoying my florist job. And today I got to try my hand at creating an arrangement! It was fun and a little bit scary. I mean, someone bought these flowers...and I'm the one that has to make sure they look good! *Gulp*

Really though, my co-workers are awesome and they'd help me out if I were in a fix. ;)

I was rather pleased with the end results though. It looks pretty good, no?

I just discovered this song this last week and I love it! You know how you hear a song and it's sort of your theme for the week? Or month? Or maybe even longer?
Well, this has been my song this week. I've been listening to it over and over. And being the emotional person that I am, I cry almost every time! I'm not sure why. It's not a sad song. But the lyrics are so pretty...

"I had the time of my life
Fighting Dragons with you."

God Bless! Have a wonderful weekend!

Saturday Style~Explorer Style

This has been one of my favorite outfits this year.

It reminds me of a female version of Indiana Jones.

Or Tinint.

It was perfect for today, tramping about in the woods and climbing boulders.

Saturdays are just the best!

A couple of my sisters and I are house sitting this weekend. This is the view from the deck.
Not too shabby.

Now I'm off. It's time for some ice cream. And Tangled. *Smirk* I get to watch Flynn Rider tonight, you all!

And speaking of Tangled, have any of you seen this? I love it!

God Bless!
