Okay, fine. I'm trying to organize my thoughts into some semblance of order. And failing.

Movies, blog stuff, music stuff, cooking stuff...Where to start?

I'm going to use the good ol' numbering system. See how things go from there.

1.) I have become sucked into the world of Agent Carter over this last week.

I regret nothing!
Honestly, I had my reservations about the show. I mean, Peggy is the cutest person ever. She and Steve were perfect.

I was worried that they'd ruin her. I was afraid she'd turn into a "I don't need no man." sort of person. I was afraid the show would be way over the top.

But...It's NOT!

It's gloriously post WWII,

You get a lovely mix of espionage, character development, and fights. Really good fights!*Cheers*
Red fingernails, the cutest clothes ever, awesome script, awesome acting...and to top it all off, fedoras! (See what I did there?)

*Ahem* It's (so far) a delightful show. I am enjoying it hugely. Thank you Marvel.  You are so very good to your fans! You deserve a medal for all your good work. (Joss Weden, please be kind! No killing of my favorite people, okay? Leave Jarvis alone!)

2.) After all the fabulous 1950's fashion, I had to paint my nails red. It was an absolute necessity.

It lasted the grand total of one day. *Le sigh*

If any of you have tips on how to get fingernail polish not to chip, I'd be all ears! 

3.) I have recently started watching Kitchen Nightmares.

It was a whim one evening. I didn't realize it would be an addicting type of show. I really like Gordan Ramsey. He's a very sweet fellow, once you get passed the swearing. (There's quite a lot of swearing. Enough that I wouldn't actually recommend it to anyone. So...view with your own discretion. You've been warned!:) 

Anyway, with all the cooking and whatnot I was in a mood, So today, being my day off, I spent a goodly portion of it in the kitchen. It was a blast!

I made a lovely Italian dish...A chicken ragu with gnocchi, to be exact. I needed to make gnocchi. I just watched Unbroken a few days ago (Unbelievable! It was an amazing movie!) and there is a fair amount of talk about gnocchi. It preyed on my mind. So I made some! And it turned out so nicely! There's nothing quite like the feeling of having your meal turn out the way you wanted it to! 

I'm not proud or anything, just...

It was pretty fab.

And since I love being in the kitchen, I made Biscotti for later on this evening.

Italians have the best food, you guys. :)

4.) My blog needs a new name, I think. I started this place back in...2011!? Gosh. 

Anyway, I feel like the name isn't really me anymore. Or it is, but not the way it comes off. Does that make sense? 

I don't think it fits the blog. 

So! I'm going to toss out a few new titles and see which one you guys like best. And please feel free to suggest some new titles as well. I love feedback!

Idea number one: Beneath the Surface. 

Just cause it sounds cool. 

Number two: Music, Magic and Mice

It's catchy?

Number three: Sing as if no one is listening.
Sort of pretty, right?

Number four: Raindrops keep falling on my head.
That is sort of a 'me' song.

This is hard. No wonder I haven't changed it yet! Golly dang! What is my blog type?

Ah, got it!

Number five. Hit and miss.
That describes pretty much every hobby and endeavor in my life! Including my posting! Hahaha.

Song of the week

Hello everybody!

Happy Wed-nes-day! (In my best Winnie the Pooh voice.)

So, lately my sister and I have been watching a show called Flashpoint.

I'm only a few episodes in, (Seven, to be exact) but so far it's been squeaky clean and really impressively good. I love it.

The cast is awesome, the actors nail their rolls, and the tiny girl cop is cool. I don't object to her at all. Which is so nice. She's just cute and brave and good at her job. And tiny.

You want to see a trailer? 

Yeah... you really do. 

Trust me.

It's really nice because the show takes the time to highlight all the members of the team and there really isn't one main character. 

I can't vouch for the whole five season series yet, (Give me a few days. lol) but so far it's been awesome.

Anyway, the point of this post is, at the end of every episode, when the situation is under control and everything is summing up, they play a song. And so far I've like every one I've heard. 

Especially this one.

Sherlock, Season 3

Let me just start of by warning all of you that this post is going to have tons of Sherlock spoilers,so if you haven't watched all of season 3 yet, it might be better if you don't read this post at all. Consider yourselves warned!

Now, on to the good stuff. 

The Premiere deserved a special something to commemorate the event. Since our original tea party was a flop, we went ahead and did a re-do. 

What is Sherlock without tea? Sad. It is sad. One doesn't feel properly British without tea.

Just put the cookies on my lap. That's right.

Who wouldn't love this episode? Sherlock lives and John finally knows.

Oh, and then there's Mary. I was surprised at how much I loved Mary right away. She is perfect for John. She actually likes Sherlock--and Sherlock likes her. It is definitely meant to be. :)

I did feel like the episode was the tiniest big rambling. Almost like it was there just to get you back into the whole Sherlock thing. The plot was a little odd. There wasn't much crime solving and the detecting that was there sort of took a back seat to the characters. But the characters are fantastic. They take you right back to 221B in the best way. 

John's reaction to Sherlock being alive was pretty much as perfect as I hoped it would be.

Overall, this episode was completely satisfying. Everything I hoped would happen did happen. Except for the fact that I'm still not 100% sure how Sherlock faked his death. I don't think the story Sherlock told Anderson was completely true. I felt like Sherlock embellished it a bit...

What do you all think? Maybe I'm looking into it too much?

Still. I was delighted with the whole thing. There was brilliant bits of humor an brilliant bits of...stuff happening.

 The Empty Hearse gets a 4-5 star rating in my opinion. 

It was way better that season 2's premiere. I totally hated Irene Adler and that episode is my least favorite. This one was just good fun. It laid the groundwork for the rest of the season and left you eager for the next episode. 

Unfortunately, what with jobs and life and no TV, we had to wait a week before we could watch the next episodes. 

It felt longer. After two years of waiting, how can a week make that much of a difference?

I should also thank all of you that were kind enough to send me links to where I could watch season 3 online. Otherwise I might very well still be waiting. :)

We were definitely in full Sherlock mode when we got together to watch the rest of the season. 

We had a wonderful dinner and watched both episodes 2 and 3 the same night. It was a blast!

One of my friends got me a really cool cookie cutter and this was the night to try it out.

I will be the first to say that if someone had asked me if I liked the idea of John and Sherlock getting drunk, I would answered with an admit no. But I actually I didn't mind! It was done well and it really was very funny.

Because that's what best friends do.

This episode was probably the most sweet and thoughtful of any of them. There were some really touching moments and the part where Sherlock plays his violin for John and Mary's dance was perfect.

I really enjoyed the way this episode goes along and you sit there thinking, "is this going anywhere?" as Sherlock's 'best man speech' goes on and on. Then suddenly everything ties together perfectly.

I loved the crime in this one. Which does sound a little bit creepy, doesn't it? I found it to be very clever. I like clever crimes. Which also sounds a bit creepy, but oh well.

I might add that I knew the bad guy was the photographer at John's wedding the second he showed up there. *Smirks*

So while Moriarty might be the best villain in Sherlock, this is the guy you hate the most.

I mean, at least Moriarty has a certain amount of class--for a creepy, crazy person, that is.

This guy was just...*shudders.* You pretty much want him to die the first time you see him. At least I did. Anyone else? Gosh, he was just so oily and piggish.

I wasn't prepared for what happens in this episode. The whole Mary plot twist took me by complete surprise. And I hated it at first. I couldn't see how they could ever fix a plot twist like that.

But then this scene happened and I cried like an idiot.

And suddenly it worked! 

And let me just add that John is my favorite. He has been since the first episode of the first season. But that moment just made me love for him even more. He is such a great fellow. *Melts*

I think this episode might have been the strongest of season 3. It was driven, it was confusing and it was brilliant.

The whole beginning is just great. I love the bit with John in that old warehouse place.

And that line, "I'm a doctor, I know how to sprain people," cracks me up every time I think about it.

There was more off-ish stuff in this episode than in the other two, which is unfortunate. Nothing as blah as the Irene Adler stuff. But frustrating none the less. 

Still, that stuff aside, I loved it.

I am hoping season 4 gets back to solving crime a little bit more. Don't get me wrong, there are crimes in season 3 and they were good and I loved them. But the other two seasons focused a bit more on the actually crimes and the crimes felt like they were more important to the plot than in season 3.
Other than that, I really have no complaints. The character development was awesome and I am feeling quite ready for round two of season three. *Grin* I think it might even be better the second time around.

Road to Avonlea

Most everyone knows about Ann Anne Shirley and the whole Avonlea thing. It's such a fun series and the costumes are wonderful. I've been out for that 'Gibson girl' hairstyle for years. You would not believe how hard it is to get your hair to stand up full and thick like this! Seriously.

I've tried soo hard for this look.

And I just can't get it.  

It could be my terror of 'teasing' my hair. Even for this look, I. will. not. tease. my. hair. 

But I should be able to get the same effect without doing that, right?

How hard can it be? 

Surely you just brush  your hair a little.

And Poof it a little.

And pin it a little....Waa-laa!

Er...no. That can't be right. *Clears throat uncomfortably.* I must have done something wrong...*Shoves hairpin in a little further.*

Never mind, I wasn't going to talk about Anne's hair anyway-lovely as it is.

 I was going to talk about the "Road to Avonlea" series.

It is awesome.

Just so I don't mislead you, I'm going to say right off that it really isn't like Anne Shirley movies. It's only the same insofar as it takes place in the same town. No Anne. No Gilbert. I know...*Sniff* 

But there is Gus Pike. 

I'm not going to lie. He's my favorite character and my main reason for loving this show. More about that later.

Season one starts off about a little girl called Sara Stanley who has to leave her home in Montreal and live with her Aunts in Avonlea whom she's never even met. She's hates it at first (and you can't really blame her) but she slowly makes friends and begins to enjoy living in this beautiful little town. 

Since there is no trailer for any of the season, we here insert theme song.

                       

There are seaven seasons and the plot does change and grow. I think the first few years are my favorite. The characters are still really young and doing crazy, stupid things that kids do. It's great! I love the cast and the children are all really good actors/actresses.

(Did I mention I love these kinds of cloths?)

My only complaint is that, every now and then as the show goes along, you'll get one of those kind of annoying episodes where the characters don't really act like themselves. This is something that I see pretty commonly in TV shows and it always irks me. You're like, "Hang on! That would totally not have happened. Jump the shark, jump the shark!" But other than that, they are really delightful and I am slowly collecting the whole series. 

And then there's Gus.

Okay, here's my real reason for this post. 

You hardly ever find a character as interesting and as awesome as Gus Pike. * Squeal!*

He is sort of a no-where man-- a wanderer-- when he first shows up. He has no family. He's a loner. But then he finds Avonlea and begins to feel he has found a home. 

The sad news is that he doesn't actually come into the show until the second season. And that is so long to wait! But then he sticks around, off and on for the rest of the series. I swear though, there is never is never enough Gus Pike. 

Here's one of my all time favorite Gus Pike scenes. This is when he first comes into the show and it makes more sense if you've seen the whole episode. *Squeal!* Still, it's pretty great on it's own.

If you're a fan of period drama, give these a shot. You'll probably enjoy them. I will caution that are two or three episodes that are a little more 'adault.' Not in a bad way. Just in a, "Oh, that was more than I was expecting," sort of way. For instance, there are two different episodes that have to deal with childbirth and it's a little scary. So...just a heads up. 

If you watch these for no other reason than you love period costumes, beautiful scenery, you will not be disappointed. 

If you love watching little kids to crazy, naughty, and sometimes just plain dumb things, you will not be disappointed. 

If you are watching them for Gus Pike, you will not be disappointed.
