Doodles, craftiness and...stuff.

Yesterday was Palm Sunday. Here we are, the last six days till Easter! *Squeee!* 

I love this last week. It's my favorite part of Lent. And not just because it's the last week, either. ;)

Anyway, I used one of the Palms we got at Church yesterday...

...and weaved it into a Rose Bud!

I've been doodling a lot lately. 

So you all get to take a peek at some of my pictures. Lucky you! :) I have found that I enjoy drawing with pen more than pencil. That's new and strange for me because I'm the person that's a tiny bit paranoid of making mistakes that won't erase.

Pens, instead of stressing me out to get everything perfect, actually keep my looser and makes me 'work in' any mistakes I make. 

Pencil makes me a little uptight about my work. I erase over and over again instead of letting myself give the drawing time to develop.

Pen allows me to doodle.

There, now you know way more about my art psyche than you ever really cared to know. *Grin*

I smooshed some of the pictures together into a collage to make the viewing a little less tedious and hopefully a bit more pleasing to the eye. 

 I really love drawing birds. I find it soothing and somewhat easy. Well...easier than drawing people. 

But drawing people is more my idea of  drawing. Don't ask why. It's just more of my art psyche. *Nods*

And then there's the all out doodle page.

I am currently a tiny bit obsessed with 'A Man for all Seasons.'

It is a fantastic movie.

Paul Scofield does a really amazing job of portraying St. Thomas More. 

When Henry the Eighth of England decided to divorce his first wife and break away from the Catholic Church, Thomas More was one of the few men that upheld the infallibility of the Pope and the sacredness of the Sacrament of Marriage. 

He was unjustly accused of treason and died a martyr for the Faith.  

"I die the King's good servant, but God's first."

    This is not the best trailer, but I thought I'd go ahead and show you anyway.                  

I love this movie so much I've watched it three times in the last three days. :P You know when you watch something and you want to share it with someone? So you watch it again so someone else understands where you're coming from. And then you're hanging out with someone else and can't talk to them about it so you show them as well.

That's exactly what happened. :)

I'm now officially in my 'Easter preparation' mood.
I make plans and lists and do crafts now. 

Well, I think about doing crafts. Some years I actually manage some. Other years, I look at crafts, have a good laugh, and moved on. 

This year I actually think I might get some crafts done. At least one.

Involving flowers.

And eggs.

And little, fuzzy chicks.

*Fingers crossed.*

Do you want to see some lovely egg decorating? 

Well duh. Obviously! Easter eggs are the BEST!

I don't have much patience with fancy egg decorating. I don't know why. It should be right up my alley, but I get bored after an egg or two. Usually because my attempts at fancy eggs end in tragedy. 

Ukrainian eggs? Beautiful, yes.

Also Hard.

However, I think I could manage these more scrapbook-style eggs. I just need to find the right sort of pictures to use. I think.

Much ado about Nothing

I really have nothing to say.

You know how sometimes you sit down to write a post...and you just stare at a blank screen for a while before giving up. One of those days where it's like; "I thought I could do a post." *Shrug* "I guess I'll browse pintrest for a while instead."

I'm resisting pintrest. *Pats self on back.*


I'm not in a computer mood right now, actually. I'm in a baking or crafty mood. (I just finished making a batch of muffins and a small pan of brownies.)

I'm also in a slightly violent mood. :D

I enjoy active sports and dabbled ever so slightly in martial arts and fencing for awhile. Unfortunately for the fencing, the teacher moved to Hawaii and that was the end of that.
One of our family friends did a bit of boxing when he was younger, and to my unholy delight, taught me a few combinations. *Pop, pop, BANG!* Which might have been a mistake on his part because I discovered that I really love to hit things. *Nods*

We have a couple of these boxing pads at home, and my sisters and I are enjoying practicing a bit now and again. It does wonders to your mood, people. It makes you feel HAPPY. And it puts a rose to your cheek and adds glitter to your eye! *Grins demonically.* It's ever so fun.

Anyway, for a long time I wanted to draw a picture a girl boxing. But for some reason that pose is very difficult for me. Here's a doodle I did...oh, probably five years ago. *Shu-reeek!* That's quite a while ago, eh? I might have even done it on the side of my algabra...or perhaps it was some research paper notes. Anyway, it's old and battered. It's a trifle terrible, but I have a fondness for it.

This one is a bit more recent. I didn't draw it all by myself. *Blush.* My talented older sister took pity on my frustrated self and did a basic outline, which I then completed. This was about two years ago, I believe. She looks like a cowgirl. Cowgirls are cool.

I want to try again, all by myself and see if I can come up with something nice. :D

The awesomeness of Altoids

And a touch more art.

So. I was at the end of my little tin of Altoids and I noticed something. Something that really tickled my sense of wonder. (My sense of wonder is pretty easily aroused.)

       The little paper inside the tin had writing on it. Not the obvious stuff on top but on the bottom.

And it made no sense.

But then I got clever and folded it in half. And held it up to the light. Oo-De-Lally!

A MESSAGE!

I found a secret message in the bottom of a little tin of mints one of the most delightful things I've ever come across  It seriously made my day. As I say before, my sense of wonder is easily aroused.

Anyway.                

I've been in a very artsy mood lately. I doubt this drawing streak will last-it never does. But I am heartily enjoying myself, playing with pencils and doodling on any paper that happens to be on hand. It wont last, I promise you, and you'll not have to scroll through my doodles every time you pop on.

I've been practicing different angles. *Pats self on back.*

This one I like. He's sort of Sherlock-ish. And that makes me happy.

Saturday Style

Two knots pined in place. Easy as that. I love the way it looks. :)

I just liked these pictures. I think they look kinda fairy tale-ish. Alice in Wonderland?

Alright. Here are some doodles I did. (Why is it that the best doodles are inevitably on lined paper?) I just thought this girl was cute.

And This one needs broader shoulders but I still like the over-all effect. (Ssshh, don't look now, but I tend to draw all my people gazing off the same way. Hehe.)

This one I love. I know it's rough and very doodle-y but I think she looks cool. I actually drew her with one of my story characters in mind and she just about fits the bill. I am very fond of her. She looks in a almighty hurry, doesn't she? Or at least, very determined about something. Maybe one day I'll find out why that is.

I recently discovered this song and I'm a bit addicted to it right now. I think the lyrics are so pretty. They hit home. (A pun you will get after listening to the song. lol.)

Some stuff.

Here's what I've been doing. I actually never finished coloring this lily, but I think it's pretty anyway. I love Prisma color pencils, F.Y.I. They are fabulous. Just a touch on the expensive side. That's why I've been using my brothers. ;-)

 This one just started as a sketch that I decided I loved and therefore put a tiny bit more effort into.

And my attempt at a self portrait. It doesn't really look like me, (I hope!) but it did turn out nicely.

So you get a couple different stages.

And finished. Hair is really hard for me and I'm not wild about it here, but...

 I like it. :-) Except it looks more washed out here than it really is.

I do love working with beads.

Earrings are my specialty, though I have branched out to bracelets, too.

An earring and hairpin set I made for one of my sisters. Yeah, tutorial for hair pretties-check! I will do it. Because, they do look awesome when they're in the hair.

-Writing-

I am one of those persons that loves outlines. I can write story outlines like nobodies business. It's just the actual 'writing the story part' that isn't quite so snappy. This last week I've been doing a chapter by chapter outline, character building, research notes, and the all-important timeline graph.

Fresh notebooks are the best. Crisp pages...Yay!

Believe it or not, John Denver and Placido Domingo sound great together! This song is beautiful.
