Cover Song for July...Among other things.

Hello Everyone!

So, remember way back when I mentioned taking a class on hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting? Well, that time has come!

*Flails*

One of my sisters, a friend of the family, and my good self are going to leaving Friday and we'll be gone for almost a week.

I'm thrilled. And Terrified.

I've also set about compiling a road trip playlist. Because that's how I roll. (See what I did there?) Music makes the world go 'round. And it keeps me from going stir crazy during 7 hours in the car. Bonus.

So. That's my big news!

I'm going to try to take pictures, but I don't know how much time I'll have for that sort of thing. ;)

Anyway.

Life's been pretty good 'round here. The weather's lovely and I've just been enjoying summery things. Like spending evenings at my family's house, playing catch with my sisters.

Reading.
I have been able to do some reading! *Cheers*
I was thinking about telling you what I've been reading, but I might save that for a post of its own.

I went and saw Ant Man.
That movie was so good!
I was fully expecting to enjoy it, but I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. It was just fun. It had lots of silly bits, and great dialog and not a ton of scary stuff.
If you go to watch it, stay till the very end. The VERY end.

I also went and saw Jurassic World, which was better than I was expecting. Chris Pratt did a really great job with his roll and they pulled of the plot pretty dang well. But It's still a dinosaur movie ...

And that's about all the news I've got for now. Except for the new song this month. It was actually Treskie that talked me into doing this one. I was having a lot of trouble choosing a song and feeling a bit overwhelmed and very strapped for time.

Treskie was like, "Hey, listen to this song," Which I did.

And then she was like, "We should do this song.Together. For the channel."

At which I pointed out I didn't know the song.

To which she snorted and said, "It's not hard to learn. Don't be a baby."

So here we are.

I have to admit, it was a lot of fun to sing this one and I really enjoyed recording with Treskie. She was right, it was pretty easy to learn and we had a good time singing together. I think it made the recording process easier for me. Which was very nice.

Still, I'm pretty shy about this one, so let me know what you think and if you liked it. I'm totally open to all sorts of feedback and I promise I won't bite your head off if you didn't like it. ;)

I might give you a paper cut and pour some lemon juice in it, but that's about it.

Thank you guys for stopping by! Talk to you all really soon. Probably.

God Bless,
Amy

"It's a bird! It's a plane!....No! It's a blog post!"

Hello everyone!

It is June.

JUNE!!

*Laughs maniacally*

I have lost the handle I used to think I had on my life.

I. Can. Not. Get. Organized. To. Save. My. Life.

The longer I've been away from blogging, the harder it's been for me to write again. I've opened my laptop a couple times with the best intentions in the world and just sat there like:

After Memorial Day slipped by and June slapped me over the face a few times, I was like, "Right! Time to get back on the proverbial bike and...and...Ride it,dang it!"

So here I sit.

(Side note. It's rather disturbing to be gone from your blog so long that you actually forget what it looks like.I just sat there like, "When did I make it blue?...That will have to change....What on earth did I do to the formatting? That will also have to change..." Awkward.)

And the best thing to do, it would seem, is to sort of fill you on on what's been going on in my life. Not to worry, it wont take all that long. *Sneer*

In order of awesomeness:

Number One:

I am taking the singing class at the college this quarter! *Dances*
There's an issue with how many times a person can sign up for the same class and I had definitely maxed out on my repeat-ability...
But the teacher was offering the class at a time that I could get to without having to make adjustments to my work schedule... and some of my other sisters were enrolled so I thought, "What the heck, I might as well try to sign up"
Mysteriously, I signed up without a hiccup! It was like a fabulous little miracle, all wrapped in tissue paper with a giant bow on top!

Two words; Private Lessons.

Also, solos. It's been forever since I've had the chance to perform and I'm very, very rusty. *Snarls*
(I'm toying with the idea of posting my class solo, as bad of quality as it will probably be...what do you all think?)

So yes. That's my number one big deal.

Number Two:

I bit the bullet and bought a guitar! *More dancing*

Meet Murdock. He is fabulous and has a full, rich voice. He is the bomb-diggety!

In case you're wondering, no, I can't really play the poor dear yet. I want to. I practice. I get frustrated and eyeball my fingers accusingly.
"Oh evil fingers! You betrayed me! Bend, dang it! BEND!"
Then I usually end up putting on my gloves and hitting the punching bag for a while.

Perhaps I exaggerate.

I love to  make noise on the beautiful contraption, and my sister is surprisingly patient with me. I'm pretty much like this:

Watch the video. Do it. Click it. PLAY IT!

Happily, I have found a channel on youtube that seems like it's going to be very helpful in my learning. The fellow is really easy to watch and he explain things really well and...he reminds me of a goofy Rory Williams. Seriously.

Similar, yes?

Number Three:

This one is futuristic, but I'm excited about it so it makes the list. So there.

I'm (hopefully) taking a hand-to-hand combat class and a knife fighting class in August this year!

IT'S TERRIFYING AND WONDERFUL! I'll get to HIT things!

I'm still working out the details. I'm actually a timid little thing and don't want to go without a sister...or a friend....or an acquaintance. Somebody...

BUT HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT!

Number four:

I am almost done with my floral design course and if all goes well, I will find  myself with a pay raise. *Pulls out the ahooga horn*
That will be glorious! That will be fa-hab-u-lous!

Three things. That's the extent of my news in three months.

Could be worse.

As far as my hopes and dreams for this blog in the future, it's vague still, it's very Hit and Miss (see what I did there) and it's still a work in progress.

But I'm planning on a post a week. That's my goal. I have goals. *Pats self on back*

Now I'm shall leave you with a song. Because that's what I feel like doing. Ha.

I don't know what it is lately, but this song has been my thing. It's my, "I'm off work, time to turn up the music and head home, singing at the top of my lungs," song.

It is so much 'the thing' right now that I wrote out some of my favorite lyrics. 'Cause I do that.

Now shush, and listen.

God Bless and I'll be back again really soon!

Happy Wednesday!

Hello, Peoples!

After the half-baked blog change I pulled a bit ago, I've been thinking more and more about my blog and what I want to do with it.

As I said in my last post, I have several work-in-progress posts just sitting there and absolutely no desire to finish writing them.

I want to have some sort of direction with my blog. Some clear goal or purpose...or something. As it is, I basically have no idea what to write about and the longer the time between post the more frustrated I get with it. That's no good! That's rubbish.

I might take a tiny bit of a break from here. A real break to get myself back together and ready to post again.
It wont be a long break. Not much longer than my lack of blogging in general, but this time it will be deliberate and therefore I will benefit more from it. That is my sincere hope anyway! *Grin*

Some of the things I'm thinking about focusing on around here are;

1.) Music. I'm sort of doing that already, but I'd like to have a clearer goal there as well. Something I'm toying with is posting some snippets of my work-in-progress song lyrics. I'm just not sure if any of you really want to read bits and pieces of my lyrics. And I'm not sure if I'm ready to share them. But I'm toying with it.

2.) I'd like to start sharing cooking/baking things again. I spend a great amount of time in the kitchen and I love it. Who doesn't like food?
So maybe recipes will start sneaking in here.

3.) Boxing. Yes. I finally said it out loud. Boxing is one of my favorite things and I might start sharing that a bit more. (I figure since it's part of my header now, it wouldn't surprise anyone.:)Would you like that?

4.) Hair related stuff. Because I'm pretty good at hair. And I like hair. And I like the idea of doing tutorials. But again, do you want to see hair again? Perhaps more importantly, will I have time to do hair related things around here?
That's what I'm mulling over. ;)

So I shall take a break and do some thinking and planning.
What do you think of that plan? Sounds good, right?

Life has been really good around here, on an entirely different note. My brother-in-law and sister came for a visit over the last week which resulted in much merriment and noise.

My brother-in-law had a job interview in the near-ish vicinity and we're all praying like crazy that he gets it. The Midwest is very far away and having them closer would be the greatest thing since the invention of running water.

My crazy-awesome brother was insane and showed up to my place of employment and handed Treskie and I the keys to a fabulous Land Rover.
Meet Jarvis

Who gets a CAR as a random surprise present??!!
That was one of those things that just make  you think, "Holy cow, I am unbelievably blessed." And it's wonderful and overwhelming at the same time.

Quite frankly, life has been full of a lot of little, wonderful things.
Hikes and music and beautiful flowers, and actual writing inspiration. It's awesome.

Friday I head off on a mini-vacation to visit my bestie and celebrate her bridal shower. Bridal showers are fun! But it's so strange to think that when May comes, she's going to be married. Growing up is so weird!

Take care and I'll be back! Not soon, but I will be back! Rather like Arnold Schwarzenegger. *Wiggles sunglasses*

God Bless!

In which I do the Liebster Blog Award...Again

Hello, everyone!

"The Liebster blog award," she muttered darkly. "The re-occurring award to make you delve deep into your memories and emotions so as to let the world know who you really are!"

................Oh wait.

This one doesn't do that!

Can I hear a Hallelujah?

Do I hear an Amen?

Per usualy, there are rules. But you know what?

So there.

Here are the rules, if I were going to follow them.

1.)Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you. (Okay, fine. That was Treskie)

2.)Answer the eleven question that the blogger gives you (Yes, I will do that)

3.)Give eleven random facts about yourself (Oh look, it does ask for some serious soul-searching. And no. I will not)

4.)Nominate eleven other bloggers and let them know (That's presuming I actually know eleven other bloggers. I may follow more than eleven, but I only comment on, like...four? Maybe six. And odds are good they've already been nominated. So...)

5.)Make eleven questions for them to answer (This one sounds fun so why the heck not?)

Now that I have that out of the way, let's get down to business. But no, I shall not be defeating any Huns in this post. So stay calm and put down the staff.

1.) Will you join me in my quest to destroy all the things?

2.) Wizards or witches?
Gandalf looks quite shocked that you'd even ask such a question.
Though I'm not sure if this question just means my preference, in which case, see above. Or if it means what I relate to more. Also see above.
Though there was a little 4'10", ginger haired witch in a book called "Dealing with Dragons" that I quite related to. She was awesome. Enough said.

3.) Are sweet dreams made of these or are you one to disagree?
"I didn't know you couldn't sing." (Kudos if you get that reference.)

4.) Have you ever heard of Ninjago? (Apparently it's lego. I have yet to see it.)

5.) Do you collect sporks?
I detest sporks.

6.) What were your favorite toys as a kid?
I am trying really hard to resist the urge to launch myself into a eulogy about my favorite toy. It's a tragic story.
Suffice it to say, I had a fabulous cloth doll made for me by my Mummy. We were bffs. I'm not even exaggerating a little.
Then, after years of love and happiness, she disappeared off the face of the planet, never to be seen again.
It was a dark time for me.

7.) If you had a choice, would you hang out with Frodo or Merry?
I am sorry to say I think I'm more in the same class as Merry. Don't get me wrong, Frodo is the bomb-diggety, but Merry seems to keep a constant supply of apples. And he steals fireworks. And raids the food storage place at Isengard. Yet he still manages to find time to be brave. I aspire to be like Merry.

8.) In your opinion are ticks worse than spiders?
Oh let me think. One lurks in the shadows, makes webs, and crawls unexpectedly out of my drain, and one sneaks up on me, latches onto my skin, drinks my blood,  and swells up to grotesque proportions.
I'm gonna have to go with tick.

Ticks are evil.

Bad, bad ticks.

9.) Sherlock meets Shawn Spencer, what is the first thing he would deduct?
"You are immature, brash and have an unhealthy desire for attention. You do not own your own home, or even your own car. You're terrified of commitment, have very little regard for authority, and hide your emotions with rather poor attempts at humor. I'd say you're an idiot, but since you've manage to hold down a job as a Psych Detective, I'd have to go with the opinion that it's the general, gullible public that are idiots and you are a simply a gifted lair."

I have no idea how he deducted all that, but I'm tired and that spiel came gushing forth and so it will remain.

10.) Can you list the fifty states?
*Inhales deep breath and begins to sing* Alabama, and Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, and more. Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana Iowa, only 36 more to go! Next New Hampshire and New Jersey, now way down Mexico, there's New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, now let's see, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee. Texas and there's Utah, Vermont, I'm almost through! Virginia and there's Washington and West Virginia, too! Could Wisconsin be the last state or is it 49? No, Wyoming is the last state of the fifty states that rhyme.

You asked.

11.) What is your opinion on blue inked pens? Yea or nay?

Being master and commander of this ship, I hereby nominate:

Your Challenge, should you choose to except it,is as follows.

1.) How do you feel about pool noodles?
2.) Forest or Ocean?
3.) On a scale of 1-10, how adorable do you think Camels are?
4.) Would you ride a camel? Keeping in mind that they spit.
5.) Batman or Captain America?(Don't worry, I don't judge... Okay, I do, but I'll be kind.)
6.) Bananas or Pineapples?
7.) How well can you chop an onion?
8.) Given a choice between jogging 5 miles or doing boxing for 20 minutes, what would you do?
9.) What was your favorite picture book as a very young child.
10.) On a scale of 1-10, just how good are your reflexes?
11.) Are you a morning person or should others be afraid for their lives if they bother you before you've had your coffee?

I'm looking forward to see all y'all answers!

Farewell, my friends!

Goodnight and God bless!

Randomness

Hello,Peoples!

Today's post is going to be pointless and random I fear.

I bought myself something silly. Something fabulously silly.

Say it with me: Gun Ice Tray

I was a bit hesitant because I didn't think they'd  come out of the tray in one piece.

But look! They totally do!

So silly and yet so fabulous!

HAPPY TUESDAY!!

Tuesdays are my day off, so they are therefore quite awesome. I love Tuesdays.

This has been a busy sort of week for me with a lot of uneventful life-y stuff. Like work.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really like my job. I get to make beautiful things, like this:

But  jobs do get in the way of crafts and cooking and reading and music. *sniffles*

I did have a wonderful jaunt to Barns and Noble with Treskie and Kat this weekend. Bookstores restore my sanity.

Yesterday on my way home from work I had to stop and get some pictures of the lake. It looked like a fairy tale! The Happy kind not involving wolves, witches, curses or death.

My family is in the midst of a Lord of the Rings marathon. *flails arms wildly*

We watched the first two Friday and Saturday night. Due to illness and vomiting, we had to postpone the third one till Wednesday.

But it's been wonderful! (Not the illness and vomiting part. The movies.) We haven't watched them in...golly...four years?!

The two youngest sisters have never seen them before which makes it extra special. And one of our friends had only ever seen snippets here and there. So she is also seeing them for the first time. She is becoming one of US! The ring: It's taken a hold of her! *grins gleefully* Happy to report she seems a tiny bit obsessed now. Our work here is done. I can't wait to see her reaction the The Return of the King!

Due to watching (and re-reading) LotR, I am in a full on "Daughter of Kings/Shield Maiden of Rohan" mood. Complete with wild hair and battle lust.

 OUT OF MY WAY,PEASANTS!

Regarding my new blog name. I'm still mulling over some ideas. I like Hit and Miss and I like Below the Surface.
But I'm an indecisive sort and change makes me nervous.

I'm off now. I've got a million and one things to do today and I need to get crackin' if I hope to get half of it done today.

So I'll leave you with this.

God Bless!

Song of the week

Hello all.

I have COME!

So.

What now?

Okay, fine. I'm trying to organize my thoughts into some semblance of order. And failing.

Movies, blog stuff, music stuff, cooking stuff...Where to start?

I'm going to use the good ol' numbering system. See how things go from there.

1.) I have become sucked into the world of Agent Carter over this last week.

I regret nothing!
Honestly, I had my reservations about the show. I mean, Peggy is the cutest person ever. She and Steve were perfect.

I was worried that they'd ruin her. I was afraid she'd turn into a "I don't need no man." sort of person. I was afraid the show would be way over the top.

But...It's NOT!

It's gloriously post WWII,

You get a lovely mix of espionage, character development, and fights. Really good fights!*Cheers*
Red fingernails, the cutest clothes ever, awesome script, awesome acting...and to top it all off, fedoras! (See what I did there?)

Jarvis. I had no idea I would love him! His little face! His adorableness! *Dies*

*Ahem* It's (so far) a delightful show. I am enjoying it hugely. Thank you Marvel.  You are so very good to your fans! You deserve a medal for all your good work. (Joss Weden, please be kind! No killing of my favorite people, okay? Leave Jarvis alone!)

2.) After all the fabulous 1950's fashion, I had to paint my nails red. It was an absolute necessity.
It lasted the grand total of one day. *Le sigh*
If any of you have tips on how to get fingernail polish not to chip, I'd be all ears!

3.) I have recently started watching Kitchen Nightmares.

It was a whim one evening. I didn't realize it would be an addicting type of show. I really like Gordan Ramsey. He's a very sweet fellow, once you get passed the swearing. (There's quite a lot of swearing. Enough that I wouldn't actually recommend it to anyone. So...view with your own discretion. You've been warned!:)

Anyway, with all the cooking and whatnot I was in a mood, So today, being my day off, I spent a goodly portion of it in the kitchen. It was a blast!

I made a lovely Italian dish...A chicken ragu with gnocchi, to be exact. I needed to make gnocchi. I just watched Unbroken a few days ago (Unbelievable! It was an amazing movie!) and there is a fair amount of talk about gnocchi. It preyed on my mind. So I made some! And it turned out so nicely! There's nothing quite like the feeling of having your meal turn out the way you wanted it to!

I'm not proud or anything, just...
It was pretty fab.

And since I love being in the kitchen, I made Biscotti for later on this evening.
Italians have the best food, you guys. :)

4.) My blog needs a new name, I think. I started this place back in...2011!? Gosh.
Anyway, I feel like the name isn't really me anymore. Or it is, but not the way it comes off. Does that make sense?
I don't think it fits the blog.
So! I'm going to toss out a few new titles and see which one you guys like best. And please feel free to suggest some new titles as well. I love feedback!

Idea number one: Beneath the Surface.
Just cause it sounds cool.

Number two: Music, Magic and Mice
It's catchy?

Number three: Sing as if no one is listening.
Sort of pretty, right?

Number four: Raindrops keep falling on my head.
That is sort of a 'me' song.

This is hard. No wonder I haven't changed it yet! Golly dang! What is my blog type?

Ah, got it!

Number five. Hit and miss.
That describes pretty much every hobby and endeavor in my life! Including my posting! Hahaha.

Tell me which one you like, or suggest a new one! DO IT!

Okay.

Now for a song, shall we? Just so I don't have to think up a different title for this post. *Grin*

I'm too tired and in too much of a hurry to post the lyrics. But this is a really awesome song, so you should take a moment and listen, okay?

That's all for now, peoples!

God Bless,
Amy

In which I do stuff.

Hello.

It's been over a week since my last post.

I feel ashamed.

But I have news!

1.) It's coming on Christmas...They're cutting down treeeeees! They're putting up Reindeer and singing songs of Joy and Peeeace!.....I wish I had a river.....
No. Sorry. Got a bit carried away there.
I simply meant, Christmas is coming and I have been shopping (and I really need to start wrapping!) and  work is busy with Christmas-y floral arrangements. And thus far I've decorated three Christmas Trees and I will be soon decorating a fourth. So I haven't had time to blog.

2.) My boss has decided to get me the education to be a real floral designer, so I have now found myself enrolled in an online design class. Which I can complete in as little as six months.
And as awesome and terrifying as that is, I have even less time now than before. So.....

3.) In my free time, instead of blogging or wrapping presents, I've been watching Flashpoint. And you guys should watch that show! So so good. I've got five episodes left. Which makes me very sad. Five seasons of awesome, and I'm almost done! *Weeps*

I will probably do a real review of that show sometime soon. Soon-ish. January-ish?

4.) I am reading Raven Boys and I love them. I'm only on book two, but I'm having trouble putting it down. Which is a bad thing because of aforementioned business. *Le sigh*

Whatever.

I have a couple of tags, so I shall do one of them today.

I was nominated by Hilda to do Five Fictional Places I'd like to visit.

1.) Middle Earth.
All of it. Why doesn't Gandalf show up at my place and hustle me off on an adventure? ......Scratch that. I have a fair idea why. And I don't like it.
I would love to consider myself a good fit for Rohan. But I think we all know I'd be a hobbit. Family, Food and comfort.

2.) Redwall.
I'm not exaggerating one tiny bit when I say I was obsessed with all of the Redwall books. I lived in Mossflower Woods for a good three years of my life.
It was my first and probably most consuming  fandom.

3.) Eddis. From the UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME ATTOLIA SERIES!
Reason number one--Eugenides. He is wonderful and amazing and I'd like to meet him. He is my favorite fictional character right now. *Grin* I luf him.
Reason number two. The land sounds beautiful, full of hills and olive trees and ocean and cliffs.
Reason number three. It reminds me of ancient Greece.

4.) Ingary--Which is where Howl is from. You know,  Howl's Moving Castle.

I feel like a terrible person! This is hard for me!....The first three came like, BAM!  Four took a little though and five is....really hard.

5.) AH! Asgard! I'd totally visit Asgard. Sign me up for that!

Right. I'm off.

I have some pictures to post and that sort of thing, so I PROMISE I shall return soon. Tomorrow, most likely.

Take care, you all!

7 things of little or no interest.

I don't know what it is about this time of the year, but it really brings out a weird side of me. Sort of like when spring comes around and I fluctuate between wanting to clean everything and wanting to stay outside and ignore the mess inside.

This time of year brings out my SURVIVE mode.

Like picking locks, breaking out of zip ties and making mini survival kits.

Like wilderness stuff involving shovels and compasses and making fires without matches.

Like wishing I could go rock climbing again, or perhaps learn how to fire a gun.

I have no idea where this part of me comes from. I've always been interested in all this kind of stuff,
Twelve year old me read an entire book on "Edible food plants of the Sierra." Cover to cover.
I was the girl that went for "The Dangerous Book for Boys" and scoffed at the "Daring Book for Girls"....and still sort of do.
Watched one too many episodes of Hogan's Heroes and wished I could dig a tunnel from my house heading somewhere.

Walkie-talkies and compasses and rope...my idea of a really good time.

It's just me.

This part of me tends to bubble beneath the surface of my otherwise normal girliness, only to come surging out whenever I see survival books or really cool youtube videos.

For whatever reason, the grey, wet days of November really bring that side of me out. I'm a tiny bit stir-crazy today.

But enough about me. How are all of you?

Okay. Back to me.

7 things~

1.) I want to read an epic book full of action and mystery and amazing characters. I can't find one. It's driving me crazy.
Story. of. my. life.

2.) I'm trying to get back into drawing and art again. And it's still just as frustration as ever before. I remember why I gave up.

3.) I'm fairly sure I drank too much coffee today. I'm typing faster than I can think. Not a good thing.

4.) I just found out about a Minion movie...I can't begin to express how exciting I find this!

5.) I'm still watching Flashpoint and I'm still loving it. It's one of the cleanest action shows I've ever seen. There have been two episodes with kissing scenes that were blah, but other than that, it's almost squeakie clean.

6.) Watching Flashpoint has aroused my interest in psychology. Which, like my weird SURVIVE thing, pops up every now and again. I think, "being a psychologist would be really interesting."....and then I think about crazy people and I just think "......Nope......"
But Flashpoint makes psychology cool.

7.) I'm enjoying this website a lot. I don't know if any of you are into SURVIVING, but if you are, go check it out. Cool, cool, cool.

I have no idea how to end this post. So...

Goodbye!

Amy

Goodbye October

The last week of October...

This year has been such a whirlwind of stuff for me! It's been amazing, crazy, and so alarmingly fast.

It's weird to look back and see how different things are today than they were in January.
It's weird to look back and see things that will never happen again. To see things that have changed forever and things that are still the same.

Ten months of good things and bad things.

Ten months of God trying to teach me new things. Sometimes I learn and sometimes I struggle, a little lost and confused. But through everything, God is there, trying to lead me closer, trying to help me learn to trust Him. Trying to help me to love Him more--love Him as much as I want to love him. And more.

Life is such a crazy thing.

I know I sometimes forget to look at the good things in my life. All the blessings and all the love and all the beauty that God has given to me.

Sometimes all I can see are the hard times and the struggles.

Sometimes I am so afraid to just try new things and to live.

But God knows that. And he helps me through it all. And he loves me, even though I am such a silly, weak person.

God is Good. And I am so grateful.

Anyway. Hello all of you!

I don't know what prompted this post. I didn't intend to write it. It just happened. Sometimes writing is like that. You have one thing in mind, but your fingers type out a different story. Even though that story may be cheesy and a little bit pointless, I guess it still wants to be told.

So...Holloween!

I know that's a sore point with a lot of people, but I'm just going to say dressing up and playing games is fun. Having my sister make her five star, absolutely addictive caramel corn is fun. Watching really old, really silly cartoons is fun.
Pumpkins? FUN!!

My friend/cousin is coming up to spend the weekend and that is fun too.

I might dress up as something WWII inspired. (I.E. who doesn't want to be Peggy Carter? Or perhaps someone from Hogan's Heroes?)
Then again, I might get lazy and just eat caramel corn instead.

All in all, this looks to be a really good next couple of days.

And then I'll have to say hello to November!

And I really need to start doing a little bit of Christmas shopping. Hunting for the perfect presents takes time, you know. And I find it wholly enjoyable.

Until next time,take care everyone!

God Bless!

Song of the week

I've been overdosing on music again. My poor sisters...

I'm like, "Listen to this twelve minute opera aria. Ssshhhh, you'll love it!"

"Hey, what do you think of these three country songs?"

"I can't get enough of this Josh Groban song"

"Let's listen to every musical we own."

"Hey, Remember that 70's song Dad used to listen to? .....I love that song."

I'm serious, That was me last night. And it's not enough to listen to the music. I sing along to pretty much every part I can manage. Including instrumental solos.
You guys, I can whistle like a canary. Obviously that's a skill I must put to good use.

................................

No. This story isn't going anywhere. I just thought I'd share.

The real question is, with all the music I've been listening to, which one should I post?

I'll refrain from posting twelve minute opera arias. I realize they're an acquired taste.

How 'bout Crying?

Even though my introduction to this song was a story my friend told me about a guy that sang it at a karaoke bar. He had a lisp. He couldn't saying his R's. He sang, "Cwying." And he thought he was the next Elvis and he really sang it with confidence. "CWY-I-I-I-ING! (Epic hip thrust) Over YOUUUU!".....

And somehow, I still like this song.

I need to finish my fourth cup of coffee now and get ready for work.

Yes, I did say fourth cup of coffee. It's one of those mornings. I am now highly caffeinated and ready for anything. *vibrates knowing*

Hey, check out this guy.

He has moves. And I have ...no moves.
Where does one go to learn stuff like that?
Youtube?
The Military?
How do you practice that move?

God Bless!

Hello Autumn!

Hello again~

Let's just pause for a moment and contemplate the fact that tomorrow is October 1st! Holy smokes, right? Or is it just me that seems to feel almost a month behind the times?

So let's see. Life Lately.

My birthday was here and gone recently. Yay for birthdays which are pretty freakin' awesome in regards to pressies and cake and movie of choice. But I'll admit I had a "How old am I?!!" moment for the first time this year. It was an odd feeling. Like, "Dang! I'm actually a grown up..... And have been for a few years. How have I not really noticed this before?"

No matter. It was a great birthday.

I got great presents, too. When is a present not great, right? But my presents were greater than average.

Like this throw pillow from Treskie.
The best pillow ever, no?
I am a pillow hog. Especially when I'm watching a movie. I like to be barricaded with pillows. And I need something to squeeze and hid behind during scary parts. :)

Pearl earrings and a necklace from the Parents! Which I was thrilled about because I've wanted a set for...a jolly long time!  (Not real pearls, in case you were wondering. I'm not a pearl snob. Those pretty cheepies are perfect for me, thank you very much!) I actually got a quite a bit of jewelry for my birthday this year. It made me so happy since I have a sad lack of nice jewelry. And See all the pretty nail polish? I want to try all the colors!
Katrina got me that CD right there. It is awesome. Just saying.

Last but not least: DO YOU SEE MY C.A. Shirt!!? It's perfect! *Hums, "When Captain America throws his mighty shieeeeeeld..."*
A while back I mentioned to Mahri that I'd like to learn to use a fountain pen because A.) they're gorgeous and B.) Because they require better handwriting skills which I could definitely use some work on and C.) Because it's way cooler to write with a fountain pen than a ball point pen, okay?
And she got me one!
As you can see, I promptly made some squiggles and scrawling with it. Then I wrote my name. Twice. To be sure I remember how. And than I gave myself some very good advice. :)

There...

I sort of feel like this post is coming of a bit gloating-ish. I got stuff! Me! Me! It's all about MEEE!

Right. Moving on quickly.

This song is so lovely. It's probably my favorite on his new album and since I'm a very emotional person, I get all dewy-eyed every time I hear it.

I've been making a lot of bouquets at work this last month. And I do mean a LOT. I really enjoy the work and for the most part I'm pretty dang happy making pretty stuff and playing with flowers. Sometimes it's crazy busy and stressful and sometimes flowers die when they shouldn't. But overall, it's pretty okay.
A couple days ago I made a impressively large bouquet. It was...honken. That's a word. It means large. Add it to your dictionaries. Thanks.
I really love burlap and lace.

I am looking forward to this next month. October is beautiful and wild and spicy. Full of wind and color and sweaters and warm drinks.
At least, that's how it is in my mind. October is the epitome of autumn. And chi latte's which, I'm a little ashamed to admit, I'm suddenly a bit addicted to.
October feels like change, doesn't it?  Not just the change in the season, but a change in life. It's full of possibilities. And chi lattes. :)

Alright. I think that's enough of me waxing lyrical (or cheesy) and I should pop off and get some other, very uninteresting stuff  done before I get in my pajamas and get cozy for the evening.

God Bless!
