Ramblings

Hello all~

As you can see, I'm doing rather splendidly with my two posts a week thing. Dedication is my middle name.
Oh but really, I will work it out at some point and there will be two posts a week around here sometime in the near future.

Aye well.

I'm feeling rather virtuous writing this post. I could have just thrown my hands up in despair, settled down with my book and ignored the internet. But here I am! As I said, dedication is my middle name. *Snicker*

I just re-watched the first Hobbit movie this evening with my family. It was great fun.
I'd only seen it once in theaters and it was long over-due. Can you believe that? I'd only watch the The Unexpected Journey once! How did that happen?

Oh and my sisters and I finally got the chance to watch The Empty Hearse and I LOVED it!
Tomorrow we shall watch the other two, if things work out according to our plans. *Fingers crossed*
Enough about that, though. I will gush about Sherlock in a post all its own.

For now I'm moving on to music.

Song of the Week

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
An endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
And you its only seed.

This is such a pretty song. The lyrics are beautiful and a bit sad...and a bit hopeful. I really go for the sad-hopeful combo. :) I feel like sad things should have a bit of hope to them.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give,
And the soul afraid of dyin'
That never learns to live.

Two of my sisters and myself have worked out the arrangement of this version-ish and have quite a lot of fun singing it. Three part harmony is exciting! (Spoken like a true music nerd. lol) We did some singing earlier today since we are finally getting our voices back after this extremely lingering cold. We warbled away for a good hour or so before the rest of the family got impatient for the Hobbit and we had to stop. We hadn't sung this song for a while, so we were a little rusty, and after going over it a couple of times, I wanted to listen to it for real. Hence you all get to hear it too. *Smile*

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose.

So here, my favorite version of The Rose. Enjoy.

Goodnight! God Bless.

In which I realize today's date.

Hello, Peoples.

It's one week till Christmas . One Week! This is both joyous news and a bit startling. I mean...one week!

And I haven't posted any of the stuff I've been up to. I haven't posted anything in a while. This week is looking rather alarmingly busy to boot...

But I like a bit of happy, hectic chaos. *Nods uncertainly*

I'll probably end up posting all the decorating pictures in one massive clump. :) Like, "There! It is done!"
That's how most everything in my life is. Carefully planned out--then; heck with all the plans! Now's the time to wing it! I seem to work the best under a bit of pressure. Deadlines really do motivate a person.

But enough about what I haven't done.

Sunday was a bright, clear sort of day, so Treskie and I went out into the meadow/forest to cut some pine boughs for decorating and to snap some pictures. It was rather jolly.

We found this beautiful, secluded spot where a stream had frozen over and everything was just a blinding mixture of glittering snow and sky.

It was just nice.

I remembered to bring 'props' but didn't remember to pose with them, so I just clumped them together in a picture. It would have been a shame to have lugged them along and not use them at all! So, two ornaments, a candy cane, a pine cone and a scarf randomly stuck in the snow. Its't it lovely? lol.

Later on Sunday, some of us went out to watch The Desolation of Smaug.

It was great fun.

There was not nearly enough of Bilbo.*Grin*
Martin Freeman absolutely nails his role. The scene with he and Smaug? Teriffic!

I really loved Bard too.

I felt there was a bit too much of the elves. :) And I didn't understand the whole Tauriel and Kili thing. That was odd. Though Kili is a very cool dwarf.

Swords.
Dragon.
Bilbo.

It was much fun.

But I have things to do and places to go, so I'm going to leave you all now.

God Bless!

This and that...But mostly that.

Christmas is only six days away! Scream with me, people. In a good, happy way. ;)

Okay, I went and saw the Hobbit. *Squeee!* It's awesome. I can't say I was worried that Peter Jackson wouldn't do a good job. But it was sort of relief how good it was! There were a few changes that I was like, *hmmm* about and one or two (maybe three) things I wouldn't have done and I sort of wish Peter Jackson hadn't, either. But otherwise, brilliant. The cast was perfect.

Martin Freeman was Bilbo. He did such a perfect job his roll. I don't think they could have found another person so perfect.
There were a couple parts that stood out in their perfectness, and the whole beginning in Bilbo's hobbit hole was everything I could have hoped for.
Loved it.

When wrapping presents or doing crafts, there's nothing quite so nice as listening to some of the Old Time Radio Christmas shows. The era of Radio shows was so neat and some of their stories get more across than the movies of today. One that I really enjoyed was 'The Christmas Carol.'
Scrooge is voiced by this guy:

For those of you who might not know, he's Mr. Potter on "It's a Wonderful Life."

If you'd care to listen to it while you wrap or do crafts click here. The Christmas Carol

I recently saw, "A Princess for Christmas" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked it so much that I watched it twice in a week. *Grin*. The ending gets a bit cheesy but otherwise, it was very well done. I like happy, fuzzy stories at Christmastime.

And something to jump up and down about, Josh Groban has released a single from his upcoming album, All that Echoes. *Jump. jump, jump!* Did you hear that, Peeps? His NEW album which will be released in February!
The single is called, Brave.

And since I'm already on the topic of Josh Groban, you really should watch this. Awesome. <3

Well that's that. God Bless!

I ramble.

Hello. How was everyone's Thanksgiving? I had a lovely day.

I made sweet potato pie.

There was a bout of fencing in the backyard with my sisters. And a tiny bit of boxing. We believe in arousing an appetite, you see.
NOTE TO SELF: It's been far to long since I've done any fencing and I'm ruddy awful at it! Time to start practicing again. *Nods* Getting killed is unpleasant.

There was dinner. It was so delightful I shall not put you through a remembrance. I wouldn't want you to drool on your laptop.

There was coffee and chocolate pudding pie while watching Second Hand Lions. We were going to watch Holiday Inn. It's sort of a tradition in my family and I was really looking forward to it, but our VHS tape is old and the movie wouldn't play. *Sniff*

There was talking and lots of coffee all evening.

Then, after sneaking in a word count back at my little apartment/cabin, my sister and I stayed up WAY too late and watched Holiday Inn on youtube. *smirk*

Thanksgiving was successful.

I cannot wait for this movie! It is going to be ever so fantastic.
I've been watching every clip I can get my hands on... obsessively. Martin Freeman might be the best hobbit ever. *Squeeee!*

Okay, maybe not best ever. I paused for a second and took a look at the Hobbits from Lord of the rings.
What's not to love?

Martin Freeman does makes a perfect hobbit, though.

I am SO EXCITED! It looks so good. :D I'm trying to decided of I want to re-read the book before the movie comes out. I read it a few months ago, but I'm all in the mood for it now. I shall have to come up with a Hobbit inspired outfit too. I like to do weird stuff like that. I will wear shoes.

Did all you people have a wonderful Thanksgiving? Did you do anything special? Do you have some cool traditions?

Is anyone else as absurdly excited about the Hobbit as I am?

God Bless!
