A bit of randomness

I did a hairstyle for today, but I had no one around to take pictures of it and try as I might I couldn't get a good one myself. It's very hard to photograph the back of your head! Truly. I saw this style and gave it a go. I'm not sure yet if I liked it or not. Here's one of the pictures I tried to take. You can't really see what's going on with my hair. :) It resembles one of those 70's beehive hairstyles in this shot! LOL! I didn't really look like that. Anyway. *Ramble, ramble, ramble.* One has tried, one has failed. One can do no more.

On the other hand (literally) I painted my nails and I liked the way they turned out. All sort of bookish. Bookish is good. Trust me. I feel like I was read out of Inkheart, for any of you that may understand that. :)

I like how subtle the effect is. (It's so novel! lol)
In fact, you might have to look closely to see there is writing on my nails.

And these are so funny!

I really want to know what exactly happened here.

Tomorrow my family gets to watch the Avengers!
I. AM. SO. EXCITED!!!

One can never have too much of the Avengers.

I really love this coat. It's pretty fantastic.

And to finish.
Some music is just so beautiful it makes me ache inside.

God Bless!

Saturday Style

Two knots pined in place. Easy as that. I love the way it looks. :)

I just liked these pictures. I think they look kinda fairy tale-ish. Alice in Wonderland?

Alright. Here are some doodles I did. (Why is it that the best doodles are inevitably on lined paper?) I just thought this girl was cute.

And This one needs broader shoulders but I still like the over-all effect. (Ssshh, don't look now, but I tend to draw all my people gazing off the same way. Hehe.)

This one I love. I know it's rough and very doodle-y but I think she looks cool. I actually drew her with one of my story characters in mind and she just about fits the bill. I am very fond of her. She looks in a almighty hurry, doesn't she? Or at least, very determined about something. Maybe one day I'll find out why that is.

I recently discovered this song and I'm a bit addicted to it right now. I think the lyrics are so pretty. They hit home. (A pun you will get after listening to the song. lol.)

UK adverts

Some things just tickle my fancy. British adverts are one of them.
They can be so clever...and unusual. Some of them are just plain weird, but never mind. This one might be my very favorite one ever.

British accents are so delightful. And have you ever seen a car commercial this funny before?

This one is just weird. I am a little embarrassed about sharing it, but you've not lived till you've seen something peculiar and catchy. *Grin* Don't blame me if you're quoting it at random.

I'm sorry if I've frightened you. lol.
So, yeah. That's it.
God Bless.

Sew there

Every now and then I get the urge to do some sewing-usually in the fall and winter and usually when I have a particular outfit in mind that simply doesn't exist...yet.
I found THIS skirt a while ago and think it's one of the coolest ideas ever. (Please, go to the link. I can't find really good pictures of this wonderful skirt anywhere else and you really need to take a peek. lol. :)
Seriously, how cool would it be to have a skirt that changes into a split skirt? Pretty freaking awesome! But the price is a little much...
But what's this? A pattern? Well, well, well! I can do that, surely. Or at least I can pretend I can do that and have my mother help. She's wonderful that way. ;) (I can sew...she just does it better. Not to mention how fast she is.)
So I now have yards of black material and I'm waiting not-so-patiently for the pattern to come so I can try my hand at this fascinating thing.
I might make some changes. Or I might figure that pattern is confusing enough without getting fancy and just leave it alone. Only time will tell.

Anyway, since I'm on the subject of clothes, I love this vest. I'm not really a leather type of girl (most of the time) but I think this one is pretty nice. It reminds me of medieval armor *Sssshh* I think I could make this work in normal clothing with turtal-neck shirts. It's cool. *Ahem.* Anyway. Just thought I'd share some of my peculiarities with you all.
When and if I get that amazing skirt sewn (and provided it looks good! Hehe) I'll post some pictures.
Take care. God Bless!

In defense of Captain America

I am a real Avengers fan. I sooo love all those guys! :) I like stories about heroes rising up against unbeatable odds-facing something so terrible that the chances of survival are small and rather unlikely and still fighting it because it's the right thing to do!

All the avengers are heroes. They are all good. But Captain America/Steve Rogers is the best. He was a hero before he was hero material.

I know a lot of people choose the Thor movie over the Captain America movie saying that Thor is much cooler and poor Steve Rogers is something of an old fashioned fuddy-duddy. NOOOOOO! Lies, I tell you! All lies!

Thor is cool. Remember, I am an Avengers fan. I like them all. It's hard not to like Thor. He's funny and brave which is always good in a character. He's compassionate and sincere. There isn't anything unlikable about him. But he did have to grow up. He was rather immature at first.

The Hulk is also pretty awesome. I like the way he's unsure of himself and is so afraid of the bad things that can happen when "The Other Guy" shows up. There's a vulnerability about him that is very endearing. As Tony Stark says, "Dr. Banner, your work is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." Exactly.

Tony Stark (Also a favorite :) is the bad-boy of the group. He comes off as arrogant and self centered. And he just can't not have the last word.
As he says when he's asked to join the avengers. "I thought I didn't qualify. I was considered, what was it? Volatile  self-obsessed, and don't play well with others."

But in a lot of ways he uses that as a shield. He hides the good in himself  in that sarcastic armor. Iron Man is also the hero that had the greatest character development. He really wasn't a hero at the beginning. He was a very naughty man. But when you look at how far he comes...he's cool! Tony didn't start as a hero, but he becomes one. And he keeps getting better and expecting more from himself.

Hawkeye....awww. I likes him. The only thing that was a little disappointing about Hawkeye was that his mind was taken over by Loki and he's sort of... bad for the fist half of the movie.

*Sniff*

Hawkeye is awesome! Talk about making the bow and arrow thing way cool again!

Black Widow: I was a bit nervous about this character. It's so easy to make the 'fighting girl' super sleazy. But she wasn't. She pulled of the tough girl without taking it too far. So yeah. I like her.

Still.

Captain America is so AWESOME!

He was tiny and powerless. But it never stopped him from doing the right thing.

He stood up for what he believed in even when he couldn't win.

He was honorable and moral. I mean, what girl wouldn't want to date a man that decent? (I'm the girl that would have gone out with Steve Rogers when he still looked like a shrimp. *SPOILER* How do you not love a fellow that literally jumps on a grenade? *END SPOILER*)

Being brave doesn't mean not being afraid. Being brave is doing something even though it's scary. Because it's the right thing to do. All the other Avengers have always been strong, hero material. You can look at them and see 'superhero' written all over them. Or at least, you can see superhero potential. But Steve Rogers didn't look like a hero.
At all.
But he was a hero to the core.

"Not a perfect soldier, but a good man."

So there. I've just been thinking about this for a while and finally sat down and wrote it. You know how it is. You get an idea for a post and just never take the time do it. But then I watched Captain America again and I was like, "I just gotta!"

Here's a video I found on youtube and trimmed slightly. (I didn't make this video! No copyright infringement intended. )

That is all.

God Bless!
