Randomness

Hello,Peoples!

Today's post is going to be pointless and random I fear.

I bought myself something silly. Something fabulously silly.

Say it with me: Gun Ice Tray

I was a bit hesitant because I didn't think they'd  come out of the tray in one piece.

But look! They totally do!

So silly and yet so fabulous!

HAPPY TUESDAY!!

Tuesdays are my day off, so they are therefore quite awesome. I love Tuesdays.

This has been a busy sort of week for me with a lot of uneventful life-y stuff. Like work.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really like my job. I get to make beautiful things, like this:

But  jobs do get in the way of crafts and cooking and reading and music. *sniffles*

I did have a wonderful jaunt to Barns and Noble with Treskie and Kat this weekend. Bookstores restore my sanity.

Yesterday on my way home from work I had to stop and get some pictures of the lake. It looked like a fairy tale! The Happy kind not involving wolves, witches, curses or death.

My family is in the midst of a Lord of the Rings marathon. *flails arms wildly*

We watched the first two Friday and Saturday night. Due to illness and vomiting, we had to postpone the third one till Wednesday.

But it's been wonderful! (Not the illness and vomiting part. The movies.) We haven't watched them in...golly...four years?!

The two youngest sisters have never seen them before which makes it extra special. And one of our friends had only ever seen snippets here and there. So she is also seeing them for the first time. She is becoming one of US! The ring: It's taken a hold of her! *grins gleefully* Happy to report she seems a tiny bit obsessed now. Our work here is done. I can't wait to see her reaction the The Return of the King!

Due to watching (and re-reading) LotR, I am in a full on "Daughter of Kings/Shield Maiden of Rohan" mood. Complete with wild hair and battle lust.

 OUT OF MY WAY,PEASANTS!

Regarding my new blog name. I'm still mulling over some ideas. I like Hit and Miss and I like Below the Surface.
But I'm an indecisive sort and change makes me nervous.

I'm off now. I've got a million and one things to do today and I need to get crackin' if I hope to get half of it done today.

So I'll leave you with this.

God Bless!

Song of the week

Hello all.

I have COME!

So.

What now?

Okay, fine. I'm trying to organize my thoughts into some semblance of order. And failing.

Movies, blog stuff, music stuff, cooking stuff...Where to start?

I'm going to use the good ol' numbering system. See how things go from there.

1.) I have become sucked into the world of Agent Carter over this last week.

I regret nothing!
Honestly, I had my reservations about the show. I mean, Peggy is the cutest person ever. She and Steve were perfect.

I was worried that they'd ruin her. I was afraid she'd turn into a "I don't need no man." sort of person. I was afraid the show would be way over the top.

But...It's NOT!

It's gloriously post WWII,

You get a lovely mix of espionage, character development, and fights. Really good fights!*Cheers*
Red fingernails, the cutest clothes ever, awesome script, awesome acting...and to top it all off, fedoras! (See what I did there?)

Jarvis. I had no idea I would love him! His little face! His adorableness! *Dies*

*Ahem* It's (so far) a delightful show. I am enjoying it hugely. Thank you Marvel.  You are so very good to your fans! You deserve a medal for all your good work. (Joss Weden, please be kind! No killing of my favorite people, okay? Leave Jarvis alone!)

2.) After all the fabulous 1950's fashion, I had to paint my nails red. It was an absolute necessity.
It lasted the grand total of one day. *Le sigh*
If any of you have tips on how to get fingernail polish not to chip, I'd be all ears!

3.) I have recently started watching Kitchen Nightmares.

It was a whim one evening. I didn't realize it would be an addicting type of show. I really like Gordan Ramsey. He's a very sweet fellow, once you get passed the swearing. (There's quite a lot of swearing. Enough that I wouldn't actually recommend it to anyone. So...view with your own discretion. You've been warned!:)

Anyway, with all the cooking and whatnot I was in a mood, So today, being my day off, I spent a goodly portion of it in the kitchen. It was a blast!

I made a lovely Italian dish...A chicken ragu with gnocchi, to be exact. I needed to make gnocchi. I just watched Unbroken a few days ago (Unbelievable! It was an amazing movie!) and there is a fair amount of talk about gnocchi. It preyed on my mind. So I made some! And it turned out so nicely! There's nothing quite like the feeling of having your meal turn out the way you wanted it to!

I'm not proud or anything, just...
It was pretty fab.

And since I love being in the kitchen, I made Biscotti for later on this evening.
Italians have the best food, you guys. :)

4.) My blog needs a new name, I think. I started this place back in...2011!? Gosh.
Anyway, I feel like the name isn't really me anymore. Or it is, but not the way it comes off. Does that make sense?
I don't think it fits the blog.
So! I'm going to toss out a few new titles and see which one you guys like best. And please feel free to suggest some new titles as well. I love feedback!

Idea number one: Beneath the Surface.
Just cause it sounds cool.

Number two: Music, Magic and Mice
It's catchy?

Number three: Sing as if no one is listening.
Sort of pretty, right?

Number four: Raindrops keep falling on my head.
That is sort of a 'me' song.

This is hard. No wonder I haven't changed it yet! Golly dang! What is my blog type?

Ah, got it!

Number five. Hit and miss.
That describes pretty much every hobby and endeavor in my life! Including my posting! Hahaha.

Tell me which one you like, or suggest a new one! DO IT!

Okay.

Now for a song, shall we? Just so I don't have to think up a different title for this post. *Grin*

I'm too tired and in too much of a hurry to post the lyrics. But this is a really awesome song, so you should take a moment and listen, okay?

That's all for now, peoples!

God Bless,
Amy

Resolution-y stuff.

Hi there, everyone!

So, 2014 is dead and gone.

*Ponders this*

It went by fast! I'm still a little stunned that we're living 2015 already. Golly dang!

I had a lot of hopes for 2014 and some of them came true and some of them didn't. Just like any year. There was a whole lot of good stuff, though, which I'm so very grateful for. And there was some hard stuff which I got through. And I'm grateful for that too.

I'm actually really excited for 2015!

I named 2014 Harry last year.

This year is Floyd. Perhaps Floyd will be amazing. Here's hoping!

It's that 'resolutions' time of year. Resolutions are the best thing ever...in theory. But it's so hard to fulfill them! Or is that just me?

Anyway, this year I'm going to try just setting some goals (maybe if I don't call them resolutions they'll be easier to do,) and see how much happens over this squeeky-clean, new year.

I would dearly love to play guitar. But I don't. And why the heck not?! I don't know.

This year I want to learn, dang it!

Hand in hand with that, I want to compose my own music. It's been a goal of mine for...ages. And again, I don't.

This year I will! Dang it! I will!
At least one song. How hard could it be? (That comment is going to haunt me later. I just know it!:)

In fact, a lot of my goals for this year are music related. They usually are and that's saying something, isn't it. *Nods*

Now, I'm off to face the world.
2015, here I come! (Please be nice, okay? Like...really nice.)

Three cheers for the new year! *Hoot. Hoot. Hoot!*

God bless you and send you a Happy New Year!

Hello, friends!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I love this time of the year so much. I mean, Christmas. Duh.

But there's something pretty fantastic about New Years, too. It's like...New Years. NEW!

New is good.

I'll get back to that, but for now....

CHRISTMAS!

Our day was so beautiful. In the happy, crazy, chaotic way it always is with my family. *Wiggle eyebrows.*

We had midnight mass at our house, which was awesome and a little bit difficult. I mean, not having to leave your house for church? Niiiiice.

Having to wait till a quarter after 2am to put the presents out and fill stockings? Buuuuummmmer.

We had the little kids write a letter to Santa to let him know not to come till after mass. I mean, we can't have the fellow dropping down the chimney in the middle of church, now can we?

We think of stuff like that.

It turned out to be quite lovely. :) But, being that it was midnight, I have no photos of the whole ordeal. *sniffle*
And it was fabulous, too. Moments that would have been nice as a picture.Like leaving a very shakey 'thank you' from Santa on the "Enjoy the cookies!" note that the little girls left. *Nods knowingly*

Awesome. Just take my word for it, honky-tonky?

Christmas morning, 6am, coffee (lots of coffee), and general giddiness. Candles and singing Joy to the World. Stockings and Christmas music. And then....
Squealing and shouting and laughing and crying.

We are emotional people, okay? Happy things make us cry.

Here. Pictures sum things up better.

That terrifying gray head? I LOVE HIM!!

Treskie is the best. How many people do you know would be thoughtful enough to get their totally weird sister a giant, rubber head? Not too flippin' many!
It is so fun to hit him. My whole family admitted to that after a little persuading. *Grin*

Then my little sisters went out and skated on the street. Yep. We're those people. It's delightful.

After the whole morning thing, I forgot about my camera and just enjoyed the day to it's fullest.
You know, music, family and Christmas stories.

And here we are; New Years Day! Hot diggety-dog!

We brought the new year in with style, let me tell you! Which means we had a wonderful dinner, took a lot of selfies, watched "The Librarian" waited around till midnight, had a toast, and went off to bed. *Insert noise-maker sounds here*

I was going to post something meaningful, inspiring and beautiful. But that didn't happen. Clearly.

I'll be popping back on later this week to do some New Years-y stuff. But for now I'm going to grab my notebook, a cup of something delicious and a pen (In that order) and do doodley/creative/lyric-writing stuff. It's gonna be epic!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas,
and Happy New Year!

God Bless!
Amy
