Song of the week

Hi there, everyone! *Waves cheerily*

The special for tonight: Everything I do.

I love this song. It's a perfect in-the-car-with-the-windows-down song.

Disclaimer number one: The guy has a weird sort of voice, kind of rough and husky. So don't be surprised when you click play. Just go with it. List to the words. Preferably with your eyes closes, cause we all know that makes the music so much better, right?

Disclaimer number two: Yes I am aware this song came out in in the nineties and is as old as I am... a few months older, actually. I bet most of you have heard it before. If not you are even more behind the times (and I mean way behind the times) than I am.

Disclaimer number three: I'm very tired, and even though this is a really skimpy post, it's all I've got for you tonight. Deal with it. ;)

Look into my eyes – you will see
What you mean to me.
Search your heart, search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more.

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for.
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for.
You know it's true:
Everything I do, I do it for you.

Look into your heart – you will find
There's nothin' there to hide.
Take me as I am, take my life.
I would give it all, I would sacrifice.

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it, there's nothin' I want more
You know it's true:
Everything I do, I do it for you, oh, yeah.

Yeah, I would fight for you, I'd lie for you,
Walk the wire for you, yeah, I'd die for you.

You know it's true:
Everything I do, oh, I do it for you.

Good night! I'll see you 'round~

God Bless

Life Lately

It's only been a week-ish since my last post? Well...that's less time than it feels like! Good for me!

Things are so busy for me these days. Not in a bad way, really. Just in a "wow, I could really use a day off sometime soon before I snap and strangle someone" sort of way.
Jobs are so over-rated.

Anyhoozle. I won't bore you any more with these little details of my life that are far from the "fun bits" that I like to talk about here.

~The Fun Bits~

1.) I finally finished reading The False Prince.

It took me....a lot longer than it should have. Not that the book wasn't good. Because it was awesome and you should go read it too. Just because things are busy and I didn't have time. I read the first chapter one week. Then the second chapter over a week and a half-ish. Then somewhere right around chapter four I got some momentum. And finished the book in two sittings. It was very good. Read it.

2.) The weather is so confusing around here. We've been having glorious warm days that make me a little stir-crazy. I want to be outside! The sun's all like, "Hellooo, Ladies!" and I want to shout hello back. But people might think I'm crazy and be afraid. So I don't.
Then the last couple of days have been cold, snowy and very, very wet.
So confusing. Maybe the sun is sad that I never say hello. *Arches eyebrows thoughtfully*
Never mind. Sunny days are a sure thing this weekend.

3.) Sunny days are definitely for being outside. Here are some pictures from a few days ago when the weather was glorious.

And the cool shot I got of the sky from out of the window.

4.) I finished season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Wow. Loved it!
The show really pulled itself together. The first few episodes, though really fun to watch, weren't super driven, but about halfway through they definitely found their legs and the finale was downright upsetting.

5.) Ah yes. Doodles. I don't usually care for the way my doodles turn out, but stick a pen in my hand and leave me alone with some paper and there will be doodles. I can't help it.
Here are a few I am rather pleased with.

6.) I'm really looking forward to Monday. I'm off work! Thank you, Memorial Day!

God Bless!

Song of the Week.

For some reason I'm in a bit of a boxer/fighter mood lately. This happens to me sometimes.
I just want to watch really good action movies with lots of awesome fighting scenes and play with my heavy bag until my arms are ready to fall off.
(I know it's not the most feminine thing in the world, but it's fantastic for relieving stress. *Nods knowingly*)

Anyway, I have literally been singing the last verse of this song all day long. It's my favorite part of the whole song.

The Boxer is one of those songs that I only listen to sometimes, (though it comes on at my work pretty frequently) and it reminds me of...well, fighters mostly. Go figure.
And since I'm in that mood, I went through and found all my favorite fighters and put them to the song.

I don't usually do post that are this graphically intensive. I apologize in advance for how long this might take to load. *wink*

So, press play and scroll, okay?

~The Boxer~
I am just a poor boy
Though my story seldom told

I squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears
What he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway stations running scared

Laying low seeking out the poor quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places
Only they would know

Asking only workman's wages
I come looking for a job
But I get no offers

Just a come on
From the girl on seventh avenue
I do declare there were times
When I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Then I'm laying down my winter clothes

And wishing I was home-- going home

Where the New York City winters
Aren't bleeding me, leading me going home

In the clearing stands a boxer
Source

And a fighter by his trade

And he carries the reminder of every glove that laid him down

And cut him till he cried out in his anger and his shame

I am leaving I am leaving but the fighter still remains

I hope you guys enjoyed that. If not, I totally did, and since it's my blog, that's the important thing, right? *Grin*

Goodnight, and God Bless!

Dreaming instead of sleeping

Last week was a long week. Like, a really long week. So by the time Saturday rolled around I was pretty wound-up and so ready for a break from it all. Treskie and I planned a girls night. It was pretty AWESOME!

I had to work Saturday (but I got off early) and all day long I was excited and jittery. You know that feeling you get right before a holiday or when something wonderful is about to happen? I had that feeling. Which either means I've preserved my child-like sense of wonder, or I really need to get out more. lol.
I punched out of work, practically danced out to my car and roared home, singing lustily the whole way. I had to stop and pick up something very important at the store and then I picked up Treskie and the fun began!

We must have both been in a rather punchy moods because we pretty much laughed the whole evening. I'm not kidding. Even when things weren't really funny, we found them hilarious. I haven't laughed so much in ages! It was good for the soul, let me tell you. *Grin*

We has such a good time, we were too busy to take  very many pictures. And Sadly, the ones we did take are all phone pictures. I really need to buy a camera.  Oh well.

Anyway.

After dinner and some hasty blogging, we got down to business.

First, the couch hide-a-bed was pulled out and smothered with blankets and pillows.

Then I unveiled the very important item I picked up on the way home. Ice cream. Duh!

There was coffee

Though really, with how much we were laughing and talking already, it probably wasn't a good idea to be downing coffee and ice cream!

 But we did.
Oh, we did!

Pardon the terrible quality, but they remind me of photo booth pictures. :)

We watched some TV Shows and did our nails....

It was so awesome.

It was honestly one of the best evenings I've had in a long time.

It was just one of those perfect things that happen sometimes.

An evening full of perfect moments.

God Bless!

Tra-laa, It's May! The lusty month of May!

I didn't want to start this post with my customary, "Hello, peoples!" but I can't think of any other way to get this thing going, so...

Hello Peoples!

Life is just awesome, you know that? Life is such a wonderful, amazing thing! And yes, that's my Saturday voice talking. *Grin*

I know I post pictures of flowers kind of a lot and I'm sure that must get boring. But really, flowers are so fun to photograph!

*Pssst* Garden roses = prettiest roses ever.

I haven't shared any of my doodles at all lately. That's partly because I didn't have a computer for a while, partly because I haven't been doodling all that much lately and partly because I'm too lazy to take pictures of my doodles.

But today just felt like the day. Don't get too excited. They're nothing all that special.

I tend to write out different quotes that I like, especially when I'm at work and need little happy reminder. Then I'll glue them in my journal later if I like them.

This quote has been floating around in my mind a lot lately.

I just like like the overall feel of this picture. I'm not sure why. It's really scribbley and slap-dash, but I like it. I will say it's better in real life when paper grain isn't so accentuated. *Nods.* And you're all like, "Suuuure..."

Doesn't it look kind of cozy? It makes me want to buy a coffee and sit in a little cafe and write.

This picture I sort of love. It was one of those that just kind of came together for me, which almost never happens. (Which is another reason I don't post doodles very often :) I'm thinking about using color pencils on it at some point and seeing what happens then. I don't know. That's scary.

And this picture leads me perfectly into my Song of the Week! I planned that. Cause I'm awesome.

~Song of the Week~

I don't expect my love affairs to last for long
Never fool myself that my dreams will come true
Being used to trouble I anticipate it
But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you?

I can't remember if I've posted this song before and I'm feeling too lazy to check, but if I did oh well. You get it again. But a different version.

So what happens now?
Another suitcase in another hall
So what happens now?
Take your picture off another wall
Where am I going to?
You'll get by, you always have before
Where am I going to?

It's one of those songs that's just really fun to sing and, depending on my mood, really relatable...Well. Relatable-ish. I'm not such a sad, depressed person. :) But I sometimes like to act my music out and this song is perfect for that, too.

Time and time again I've said that I don't care
That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through
But every time it matters all my words desert me
So anyone can hurt me, and they do

So what happens now?
Another suitcase in another hall
So what happens now?
Take your picture off another wall
Where am I going to?
You'll get by, you always have before
Where am I going to?

I've heard quite a few version of this song and I like quite a few versions of this song. Samantha Barks does a really good one, and Sarah Brightman's is really fun to sing to when I'm warmed up and feeling good about my high notes. :)

Call in three months time and I'll be fine, I know
Well maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow
I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion
But that's no consolation here and now.

I just heard this version for the first time today and I really like it. Her voice is really pretty.

So what happens now?
Another suitcase in another hall
So what happens now?
Take your picture off another wall
Where am I going to?
You'll get by, you always have before
Where am I going to?

Toodles! I've got things to do and coffee to drink!

God Bless~

Tag. I'm it!

In which I tackle three tags in one epic, hilarious, brilliant post! Also known as, "This post is going to be tremendously long."

Over the last month and a half-ish, I've been nominated by BellaRose and Ivy Miranda for some blog awards. I shall proceed to accept them in that order.
Let it be known that I actually enjoy me some blog awards from time to time. It makes me happy inside.
Sometimes, though, I find tags very challenging. Not right now, thankfully. But sometimes.
Right now I'm totally in the mood to do these tags! I guess it depends on my mood and my coffee intake.
For instance, as I sit here typing away, I'm drinking coffee, eating some banana nut, oatmeal muffin/cookie/bread things that I whipped up and smiling happily at the prospect of tackling the forthcoming questions in a witty and interesting way. Coffee can be such an amazing motivator. After a few cups my fingers are pretty much moving by themselves anyway and my mind is excited about everything.
Like so.
BoyyouguysareinforsuchacrazypostIcan'tbelieveyou'restillreadingandthislineandhonestlyI'mimpressedthatyou'vemadeitthisfar!Tagsaresodelightful.Ifeelsoverymotivatedtodothisthing!Hurrahfortags!

At which point it's a good idea to stop drinking coffee and calm the heck down.

Anyway, I shall start.

Oh yes. I forgot to mention, since I'm feeling like a rebel today, I am going to ignore the rules to these tags! Rules...who needs rules? I'm tired of following the rules! I want to be FREEEEEE!
Also I don't really have any other bloggers to nominate, but that sounds a bit sad and loner-ish. So let's stick with the rebel version, eh?

First off, the Liebster Award.

Bella's Questions.

1.)Would you consider yourself a geek or a nerd?
I'm a little bit of a Geek and a tiny bit of a nerd. I wish I were a bit more of nerd. Nerds are smarter.
As it is, I'm mostly subtly geeky.

2.)Do you know when National Pie Day is?
I do not.
Nor do I care.

3.)What is the first thing you think when you see salt?
Pepper.
Because I'm a rebel.
White?
BLACK.

4.)Do you spend most of your time inside or outside?
Unfortunately I'm inside a lot. That's one of the rubbish things about growing up and having a 'life'. I put quotations around 'life' so that you realize that I mean no life when I say 'life'. It's like a code.

5.)Range Rover or Land Rover?
I think I'd be more inclined to buy a Range Rover. One of the older models. They were cooler.

6.)Did you know they are making a sequel to The Incredibles?
I did! Not that I stalk Pixar or anything. That would be silly.

7.) Do you like Raisin cookies?
Please. Everyone knows that raisin cookies are like little traitorous spy cookies.  They infiltrate under the pretext of being a chocolate chip. And they turn on you. Then you're stuck chewing that little traitor. That evil not chocolate chip.
"Well played, raisins. Well played."

8.)Do you own more than ten CD's?
I do. CD's are my favorite thing to buy!
But mostly I wait around for birthdays and Christmas and make a point of sending subtle emails to my family with my Music and Books That I Don't Own Yet list.

9.)What does it mean to have cat-like tread?
It means, "No sound at all, we never speak a word. A flies footfall would be distinctly heard!" Nods knowingly.

10.)Have you read The Hunger Games?
The first one. I read it in one bug-eyed sitting, and then decided I didn't like it. I never bothered with the other two.

11.) Do you ever wear a robe?
Only every now and then. I own a giant, blue man-robe. I'm serious. I got it second hand for 50 cents. It's a good 5 times too large for me, has deep pockets and a long sash and I find it very comfortable. Never mind that I look like a biblical character in it.

Now for Rose's questions. This is also the Liebster Award.

1.) An anonymous someone drops a note on your front porch saying that they will fund a trip to either England, an African Safari, Prince Edward Island, or Italy. Which do you choose? Why?
You know what, if I got a note like that left on my porch I might call the cops. Seriously.

But if I knew the benefactor and trusted the benefactor, I'd choose either Italy or England.
Probably Italy.
I love Italian food and culture so much! And the the Catholic in me is dying to see Rome...

2.)You're being forced to re-do your room. What color do you paint it?
Oooh, good question. Color...color...color.......
I love me some color!
Hmmmmm. Probably something creamy and nice. A yellowish color.
A bright and happy color.

This color scheme is very me-ish.

3.)Do you have a particular song that you listen to often, but it never seems to get old? If so, what is it?
Riiiight.
I don't mean to always harp on how much I love Josh Groban but....
I love Josh Groban.
So here. Enjoy!

4.)Would you rather be lounging in the sun on the beach reading a good book or adventuring in the waves?
Adventuring in the waves! I love to swim. And then I'll read in the sun.

5.)You suddenly end up with two twin kittens. One is a girl; one is a boy. What do you name them?
Fitz and Simmons. *Wiggles eyebrows*

6.)You're organizing a get together with friends. Would you choose a picnic or a movie night?
Gosh! Bring on the hard questions next time, why don't you!
Hmmmm. A picnic. When I'm with friends we tend to do a lot of talking and a movie night would probably deteriorate into a all night talking fest anyway. Picnics involve the great out doors and food. Win, win.

7.)What is your pet peeve?
This one just comes from working with the general public a little too much. I hate it when I am sort-of -accidentally eavesdropping on a conversation and I hear a conversation that goes something like this:
"My son just got married."
"Oh, congratulations!"
*Me: smiles like an idiot.*
"Yes...the just bought a puppy. It's so good for their relationship. They're just not ready for children yet."
*Me: narrows eyes*
"Oooh, that's wonderful! And so responsible of them."
"I know. There's no need to rush these things. A puppy is a perfect first step."
*Que me turning red and strongly desiring to hit someone with a bat.*

Just to be clear, I don't mean to eavesdrop. I just work in location where I hear pretty much everything that happens around me. Very annoying.

8.)Is there a new hobby you've been wanting to try out?
Yes and I've been working towards it a lot lately. But I'm not going to tell you what it is.
....Yet.

9.)If you could pick one instrument that you would (without any effort on your part) instantly master, which would you choose?
The Kazoo.
Feel free to laugh. That was a joke.
Though I do want to own a Kazoo.

Really though, if I could just know how to play an instrument it would be either the piano or the guitar. They are both lovely and I could accompany myself singing.

10.)Would you like to be snowed inside for a week?
Sure, that's fun! Especially if the power is down and I have to cook over the fire and light wonderful little lanterns and use the bathroom by candlelight. I really enjoy that.

11.)Pick the closest book to you that you've read. What is your favorite character in the book?
The Last Crescendo. Paul Gray is one of the best literary characters ever. No joke, I LOVE that guy.
I think that's going to be the source of my next book review. Stay tuned.
Get it? The Last Crescendo--Stay tuned?

And last but definitely not least, Ivy Miranda!

1.) If you were on an abandoned island what would be the two things you would bring?
A toothbrush and knife.

2.) Why do you think you deserve this award?
*Gaaah* I don't know! It's definitely not because of my punctual posting skills, that's for sure!
That's like a job interview question. "Why do you think we should hire you. What would YOU bring to this company?"--------------
Fine! Don't hire me!
*Grin*

3.) Do you like pizza? If so what kind of pizza?
Yessssss. Pizza is a circle of happiness.
Give me pretty much any kind of pizza, really. I'm not hugely into just vegetable pizzas, but I like meat and veggies mixed.

4.) What is your drink of choice?
Coffee. *Vibrates*
Yes. Coffee.

5.) What is your favorite animal?
I'm a dog person. Though I'm beginning to think I'd enjoy having a pet hedgehog.

6.) Do you like British television?
Oh I say, rather! What sort of duffer wouldn't like British telly?

7.) What was the last good Disney movie you saw?
I believe it was Frozen. I like it a lot. :) The music was great, the characters where fun...I did find the plot a little plot-holey.  But I think I said that in my last post.

Ta-da! All done.
Now that wasn't so bad was it?
*Passes you a cyber handkerchief* There you go, my dear. You're drooling. Just a little.

Well, I'm feeling rather good about this. *Stretches proudly*

Thank you ladies for the tags! I had a lot of fun with them.

God Bless!
