I am a real Avengers fan. I
sooo love all those guys! :) I like stories about heroes rising up against unbeatable odds-facing something so terrible that the chances of survival are small and rather unlikely and
still fighting it because it's the
right thing to do!
All the avengers are heroes. They are all good. But Captain America/Steve Rogers is the best. He was a hero
before he was hero material.
I know a lot of people choose the Thor movie over the Captain America movie saying that Thor is much cooler and poor Steve Rogers is something of an old fashioned fuddy-duddy. NOOOOOO! Lies, I tell you! All lies!
Thor is cool. Remember, I am an
Avengers fan. I like them all. It's hard not to like Thor. He's funny and brave which is always good in a character. He's compassionate and sincere. There isn't anything
unlikable about him. But he did have to grow up. He was rather immature at first.
The Hulk is also pretty awesome. I like the way he's unsure of himself and is so afraid of the bad things that can happen when "The Other Guy" shows up. There's a vulnerability about him that is very endearing. As Tony Stark says, "Dr. Banner, your work is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." Exactly.
Tony Stark (Also a favorite :) is the bad-boy of the group. He comes off as arrogant and self centered. And he just can't
not have the last word.
As he says when he's asked to join the avengers. "I thought I didn't qualify. I was considered, what was it? Volatile self-obsessed, and don't play well with others."
But in a lot of ways he uses that as a shield. He hides the good in himself
in that sarcastic armor. Iron Man is also the hero that had the greatest character development. He really wasn't a hero at the beginning. He was a very naughty man. But when you look at how far he comes...he's cool! Tony didn't start as a hero, but he becomes one. And he keeps getting better and expecting more from himself.
Hawkeye....awww. I likes him. The only thing that was a little disappointing about Hawkeye was that his mind was taken over by Loki and he's sort of...
bad for the fist half of the movie.
*Sniff*
Hawkeye is awesome! Talk about making the bow and arrow thing
way cool again!
Black Widow: I was a bit nervous about this character. It's so easy to make the 'fighting girl' super sleazy. But she wasn't. She pulled of the tough girl without taking it too far. So yeah. I like her.
Still.
Captain America is so
AWESOME!
He was tiny and powerless. But it never stopped him from doing the right thing.
He stood up for what he believed in even when he couldn't win.
He was honorable and moral. I mean, what girl wouldn't want to date a man that
decent? (I'm the girl that would have gone out with Steve Rogers when he still looked like a shrimp
. *SPOILER
* How do you not love a fellow that literally jumps on a grenade? *END SPOILER
*)
Being brave doesn't mean not being afraid. Being brave is doing something even though it's scary. Because it's the right thing to do. All the other Avengers have always been strong, hero material. You can look at them and see 'superhero' written all over them. Or at least, you can see superhero potential. But Steve Rogers didn't
look like a hero.
At all.
But he was a hero to the core.
"Not a perfect soldier, but a good man."
So there. I've just been thinking about this for a while and finally sat down and wrote it. You know how it is. You get an idea for a post and just never take the time do it. But then I watched Captain America again and I was like, "I just gotta!"
Here's a video I found on
youtube and trimmed slightly. (I didn't make this video! No copyright infringement intended. )
That is all.
God Bless!
